It seems the day we have all been waiting for has finally come, CS2 has optically been released by Valve. The update finally dropped today at around 9:00 PM GMT and was released as an update to CS:GO rather than its own stand-alone game. CS2 has finally been released.
We’ve been waiting since the very first leak surfaced via Nvidia, and since then we have been in anticipation of this moment. Let’s hope the servers can hold up.
Some players are already experiencing issues downloading CS2, and the game has only been released for around an hour.
CS2 has finally been released – today will go down in history
CS2 is going to be the next big thing in e-sports all around the world. If it’s even half as popular as its predecessor, CS:GO, it would still be a global success. We know that a lot of players have had access to the game already, but it’s nice to see CS2 released to the general public for us all to enjoy.
The release date was actually teased by the CS2 X (formally Twitter) account last week when it posted this on its X account.
Subsequently, this tweet correctly predicted when we were going to receive the CS2 update, glad to see they’re not always on Valve time.
The CS2 update is around 27GB and in fact, released as an update to CS:GO, not as a stand-alone game, meaning you’ll likely never play CS:GO again, which is kind of bittersweet, I suppose.
On the one hand, you have this new and updated fantastic FPS, but you have to say goodbye to all the memories forged by CS:GO. Saying goodbye to an old friend, and gaining a new one.
Well, what are you waiting for? Go ahead and jump into the chaos of CS2, there should be plenty of people to matchmake with now, providing the servers hold up. Enjoy this moment, we have all been waiting a very long time for this.
