This long-awaited sequel finally gets its launch in 2024, so today we’re going to talk about the Dragon’s Dogma 2 system requirements and whether your PC can handle it or not. If you’ve been following its development, you may now know that a demo is available to give you a sneak peek, at least for the character creation tool.

On top of that, both the minimum and recommend specs are out for all to see! And while it looks like you won’t need the very best gaming PC to get it up and running, a decent rig is of course recommended for smooth gameplay. Coming from the original released way back in 2012, there is most certainly a huge uplift in what’s required, so let’s see how it compares.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 minimum system requirements

To kick things off, we’re going to start with the minimum system requirements. As stated on the Steam store page for the game, the minimum specs are targeting just 30 FPS at 1080p. For PC gaming, this is extremely entry-level performance, so keep that in mind.

  • Operating System (OS): Windows 10 (64-bit) / Windows 11 (64-bit)
  • Processor (CPU): Intel Core i5-10600 / AMD Ryzen 5 3600
  • Graphics card (GPU): NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 / AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT 8GB
  • Memory (RAM): 16GB RAM
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Network: Broadband internet connection

Dragon’s Dogma 2 runs on the REengine, which has generally been forgiving with the likes of Resident Evil Village or Street Fighter 6. However, DD2 looks to be on another level.

Moving on to the recommended specs. A sidenote here though – they target 2160i at 30 FPS (meaning interlaced 4K, which is not your usual native 4K). Despite that, we see quite a large jump in the specs that tells us that this sequel isn’t going to be easy to run at high resolutions.

  • Operating System (OS): Windows 10 (64-bit) / Windows 11 (64-bit)
  • Processor (CPU): Intel Core i7-10700 / AMD Ryzen 5 3600X
  • Graphics card (GPU): NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 / AMD Radeon RX 6700
  • Memory (RAM): 16GB RAM
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Network: Broadband internet connection

There’s little change in the recommend CPUs, so you may want to instead invest in the best GPU for gaming if you’re in the market for an upgrade. Interestingly enough, the 16GB RAM recommendation remains the same, so it looks like the game is heavy on resources at a base level.

Can my PC run Dragon’s Dogma 2?

A quick glance at the minimum specs and it doesn’t look that bad for a 2024 title, but once you see that these specs are targeting just 30 FPS at 1080p, we can tell that the game isn’t going to be the smoothest experience for anyone on outdated hardware. Having at least an Intel Core i5 or top-end AMD Ryzen 5 processor and, at worst, a mid-range GPU from the past couple of generations is what we’d recommend.

If you’re looking in the prebuilt gaming PC space, we’d recommend one of our best under $1000 for 1080p/1440p on a budget or some of the very best prebuilt gaming PCs for 4K. Another thing to think about is storage space. This is yet to be confirmed, though we do know that the world itself will be roughly four times bigger than the original game.

What else can I play Dragon’s Dogma 2 on?

What’s obvious is that Dragon’s Dogma 2 is available on PC, but what else can you play it on? Well, back when the release date was made clear, we found out that it will be available on just three platforms:

  • PlayStation 5
  • Xbox Series X/S
  • Windows PC via Steam

So, for the time being at least, it looks like it isn’t coming to last-gen consoles, or other operating systems such as Mac. If you’re still working with an older PC and don’t quite have the specs to run this new sequel, playing on one of these consoles is an alternative. On the flipside, it may be time for you to build a new gaming PC.
