Fallout: The Odyssey is an upcoming mod for the largely popular Fallout: New Vegas. We’re going to figure out everything there is to know about it so far, including any possible release date. This has been in the works for a while, which is no surprise as a fan-made mod of the game. There have been some recent revelations about Fallout: The Odyssey, so let’s see what’s in store.

New Vegas released way back in 2010, long enough ago for many players to garner some nostalgia for the title. Especially if they weren’t as impressed by the follow up games. Regardless, the game still enjoys a community of players who want to see more content, which is these days enabled by the modding community.

Fallout The Odyssey release date – it’s not here just yet

There is nothing concrete on the Fallout: The Odyssey release date just yet. Fan made mods always take a while to get out to the public. These people are working in their spare time, remember. However, with the recent release of the teasing short film just below, that may spur on some additional news about the release date.

You can see some progress on the project taking place over at NexusMods – in particular this Mega Armor Pack for now. More about the mod over at their Discord server if you want to follow along or even get involved in it’s development.

Fallout The Odyssey Unreal Engine 5 short film preview

The latest preview we’ve got of Fallout: The Odyssey comes in the form of this Unreal Engine 5 short film, which acts as somewhat of a teaser trailer to build the hype. Although this short film is rendered in the latest edition of the Unreal Engine, the mod itself is of course based on the Fallout: New Vegas engine, as the game’s assets are built around the pre-existing engine.

Take a look at the quick 2 minute trailer just below.

As you can see, the snowy scenery is a change of pace from the desert lands of New Vegas. This total conversion mod is set within Alaska, quite a stark contrast to what you may be used to. That’s why this looks like such a promising mod – it really flips the setting of New Vegas on it’s head, all the while providing similar gameplay and story driven content.

As one official account says, you’re ‘a wanderer of Alaska caught up in this conflict’ and ‘will decide on this outcome’.
