Nintendo Direct was announced on February 9th. 2022 via a tweet on Nintendo’s official profile. The stream features 40 minutes of news relating to Nintendo titles coming to consoles in 2022. We’ve already speculated about what we wanted to see, but here’s all the real headlines straight as they’ve come from the broadcast.

February 2022 Nintendo Direct Highlights

Fire Emblem Warriors Three Hopes

The show started with a release date for the follow up to Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Fire Emblem Warriors continues the franchise’s run on Nintendo Switch, bringing a brand-new story to the fantasy role playing series, set in the familiar Three Houses universe. Familiar characters, including the divisive Edelgard, are back for the new game, which is set for release on June 24th, 2022.

Mario Strikers Battle League release date

Mario Strikers returns, but for the first time on Nintendo Switch, will an all-new sporting adventure coming to Nintendo Switch consoles on June 10th, 2022. Get ready to score big with the Hyper Strike mechanic, as you team up with your favorite Mario characters, create your own club and more.

Splatoon 3 news and Salmon Run Next Wave

A new Splatoon 3 gameplay trailer has been revealed, featuring fan-favorite mode Salmon Run. This latest Salmon Run adventure introduces a never-before-seen salmon coming in the latest Splatoon Salmon Run, continuing the series’ popular co-op mode. Splatoon 3 doesn’t currently have a release date, but we know it is expected to come to console in Summer 2022.

Race to glory in Disney Speedstorm

This brand-new racer brings high-speed action to familiar Disney and Pixar locations, while you put the peddle to the metal as your favorite characters. Choose wisely, as each character has its own unique uses on the track. Brawn or agility? Speed or Attack? You decide in Disney Speedstorm, coming to Nintendo Switch in Summer 2022.

The Force is Unleashed on Nintendo Switch

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed gets revamped for its Nintendo Switch release on April 20th, 2022. Unleash the powers of the Dark Side and pre order the classic Star Wars title today on the Nintendo eShop.

Assasin’s Creed — The Ezio Collection

Three classic Assassin’s Creed titles come together in this collection, finally coming to Nintendo Switch consoles, which features each of Ezio Auditore da Firenze’s Assassin’s Creed stories. You’ll get Assassin’s Creed II, Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, and Assassin’s Creed Revelations – as well as two short films and a DLC – all in one thrilling bundle, available February 17th, 2022.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land trailer

Unsurprisingly, Kirby has his mouthful in an all-new Kirby and the Forgotten Land trailer revealed during Nintendo Direct. Mouthful mode is a brand-new mode to the Kirby platformer, as Kirby can now inhale larger items than ever before, and new actions will be revealed which are unique to these items. Want to inhale a car? Why not.

MLB The Show comes to Nintendo Switch

MLB The Show makes its Nintendo Switch debut. Head to the pitch with friends on any platform as MLB The Show is completely cross-compatible, and arrives on Nintendo Switch consoles on April 5th, 2022.

Portal and Portal 2 are coming to Nintendo Switch

The classic portal puzzler is joining the Nintendo Switch family in the Companion Collection. No official release date has been announced so far, but Portal and Portal 2 are coming to Nintendo Switch later in 2022.

Yep, Wii Sports is coming to back in an all-new iteration, Nintendo Switch Sports. The all-new Nintendo Switch Sports brings back fan-favorites tennis, bowling and chambara, while introducing soccer, badminton and volleyball. Nintendo Switch Sports brings back the classic physical gameplay using the Joy Cons, and will allow local play at home with your family and friends, as well as online play with others across the world. Nintendo Switch Sports comes to consoles on April 29th, 2022.
