So did you watch it? Did you? The season finale of Fortnite Chapter happened and left us on a cliffhanger with everything we know and love about the Battle Royale flipped on its head – quite literally. We know Chapter 3 will bring us a new map, new enemies, and new ways to play the game but what do we definitely know about the biggest Fortnite shake-up in years?

What does the new season of Fortnite start?

Leakers have been hard at work suggesting and, er leaking a start time that seems to point to 3 pm GMT/7 AM PST for the start of Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 1. This has not been confirmed by Epic Games but there is no smoke without fire. Currently, Fortnite is not playable while all the behind-the-scenes shenanigans go on, but we are only a few hours from that point so we will know one way or another.

This would definitely be a quicker turnaround than we got between Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 a couple of years back, so maybe it is just Epic Games getting better at this kind of thing!

What is happening on the Fortnite website? Who is the Fortnite guy floating in the ocean?

At the moment a visit to fortnite.com shows us a looping video of the Fortnite guy floating in the ocean, presumably after the effects of the Tsunami. We will have to wait to see what happens next here.

Fortnite Server Status

The game is not currently ready to play so access to the server is down while the maintenance update for the new Chapter is carried out.

Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 1 Battle Pass

Epic Games has dropped the trailer for the new battle pass, albeit seemingly accidentally via yet another leak, and, if you will excuse the pun, it looks epic. We already knew we were getting Spider-Man as cosmetics, but part of the new flipped island includes an area of Spidey’s home down, covered in webs and even has the Daily Bugle newspaper office as a building,

Meanwhile, for the first time players will be able to earn XP outside of Battle Royale, so that means you can level up in Creative. Epic is keen to make sure this isn’t exploited so play nice or face the banhammer would be our advice here.

As well as Spiderman, the 100 level Battle Pass will include Epic’s original hero, The Foundation as we can expect to unlock another six as well. Little is known about these, but more should be revealed over the coming days and weeks.

We have seen a skin for Gears of War character Marcus Fenix so watch out for him in the near future.

What is the new island called in Fortnite?

fortnitemap

The new play zone is called Artemis – which is also the name of the new NASA moon missions, coincidence? Probably. As well as featuring Spiderman’s point of interest (POI)it also includes, at least according to a tweet by prominent Fortnite leaker iFireMonkey the following names points of interest,

Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 1 gameplay changes

Sliding baby. Yes, the staple of Apex Legends is coming to Fortnite finally and you will be able to now slide away from enemies or down inclines at a faster rate than running. This is a pretty big new inclusion that might catch a few players out who are less experienced in a wider range of games so it will be interesting to see how it changes the dynamic, at least at first.
