With the recent Epic Games layoffs, many Fortnite players are concerned that Fortnite Chapter 5 will suffer. The Epic Games layoffs have affected about 830 employees and have raised eyebrows about whether content will be resumed as usual.

In the official email’s FAQ section, CEO Tim Sweeney addressed the company’s future. So, find out whether Fortnite Chapter 5 will suffer from the Epic Games layoffs.

Fortnite Chapter 5 will not be affected by recent events

It was announced on September 28, 2023, in an official email by Tim Sweeney, that Epic Games will be laying off 16% of its staff. In this email addressing all Epic Games employees, Sweeney addresses the reason for the layoffs and states the future of Epic Games and Fortnite. Due to the amount of spending, the company had no other choice but to lay off 830 employees.

This layoff resulted in two-thirds of employees outside of the core development. As a result, many Fortnite plays were concerned about the future of the next chapter. Additionally, players were worried whether these layoffs would affect any additional future content. However, in the FAQs section of the email, CEO Tim Sweeney confirms the next Fortnite Season and Fortnite Chapter 5, along with various events, will be released as scheduled.

Sweeney goes on to further say they “aren’t cutting any core businesses,” due to this, those who have been affected were outside of the core development. While this layoff indeed shocked many, in addition to the controversial emote and increase of V-Bucks prices, Fortnite players can rest assured that Fortnite Chapter 5 is still on its way.

Additionally, players should be reminded that Seasons and Chapters have been developed months in advance. As a result, when it’s time to release the new content, additional content will likely be worked on and ready for drip marketing.
