A viral tweet making its rounds has players wondering if Fortnite is ending. Due to the many controversies, the Epic Games layoffs, the controversial Emote, and the increasing V-Bucks prices. As a result, this all came to a head after the viral tweet, which led players to believe Fortnite was ending.

Of course, this is not the first time Fortnite had to deal with this rumor. However, it does seem more believable with all the controversies surrounding it. So, we’ll explain whether Fortnite is ending and why this tweet is debunked.

A viral tweet causes players to think Fortnite is ending

Due to a viral tweet on a fake X (formerly Twitter) account, many Fortnite players believed Fortnite was ending or shutting down. This rumor is false, and Fortnite has no intention of ending or shutting down. At the current time of writing, Fortnite has over 500 million total players, which keeps growing. Additionally, Fortnite has millions of daily players; as a result, it’s unlikely to end anytime soon.

However, it is reasonably understandable why many players would believe this rumor. Fortnite and Epic Games have been in several controversies and recently laid off 16% of the company. With 830 Epic Games employees laid off, many players quickly believed this rumor.

Fortnite has no intention of slowing down, and within the FAQ section of the official email addressing the layoffs, we learn of the company’s future. Although 830 employees have been laid off, these employees were not a part of the core development.

Additionally, Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney also announced in the FAQ section of the email that the next Fortnite Season and Chapter 5 will be released as scheduled. Fortnite and Epic Games also plan to release the new Transformers Pack and the Sparkle Skull Skin in October. As a result, it’s safe to say Fortnite has no plans of ending.
