It looks like Fortnite fans will be getting something new to play around with soon. Fortnite is getting a brand new update which brings drivable cars and other vehicles into the game. While we have had some vehicles in Fortnite before such as planes, helicopters and hover boards, we haven’t seen much in the way of four wheels – that is until now.

At least one of these new cars will be arriving on August 5th, with more to come soon. This was announced in a brief Twitter update recently from the Fortnite account.

The Joy Ride update will add a variety of vehicles but only one has been officially revealed so far – the Whiplash car. With the Tweet suggesting this car is “not just a name. It’s a warning”, we’re expecting it to be a lightning fast addition to the game. It probably won’t be a walk in the park to control this new car.

With only one vehicle advertised so far, there’s a chance that Epic Games will be going for a staggered release to maintain and build interest over the coming weeks. Some players have already spotted in-game posters for trucks and sedans so we could see some interesting additions coming soon. Epic Games first teased the idea of bringing cars to Fortnite in June when the trailer for the battle pass for Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 3 was released. This trailer featured several cars including the Whiplash car, a taxi and a truck.

The Chapter 2, Season 3 of Fortnite was first launched in June and brought quite a few dramatic changes for the game. The main one being that half the map was underwater. There were also a few different locations added including a Waterworld-style village called The Fortilla, The Authority and the Catty Corner.

What do you think of this upcoming Fortnite update? What vehicles are you looking forward to racing around in? Let us know in the comments below.
