Leaked pictures of the new Galax RTX 3090 Ti Boomstar have been found. It shows the card utilizing the new PCIe gen 5 power connector. This series of graphics cards is China exclusive series with an unusual translucent cooling solution and is the first card to show off the new power connector.

The RTX 3090 Ti is set to release March 29th and so it is unsurprising there are now images being leaked of the upcoming card. It is slightly surprising to see it with the new connector though as that was more expected for the upcoming new generation of cards.

What is PCIe Gen 5 power?

PCIe gen 5 power connector is the new power solution for graphics cards and is now pictured on the Galax RTX 3090 Ti. It has been seen in newly announced power supplies, the new connector is a 16-pin cable. Four of which are specific data cables that communicate with the graphics card to know how much power to deliver.

This new connector allows for up to 600W of power to be delivered via a single cable without having to add anymore as you might do now. Even without the data cables, the connector can deliver 450W of power which is the TDP of the 3090 Ti. It is likely the new cards will come with adapters so you shouldn’t have to buy a new power supply alongside your new power-hungry GPU.
