GTFO’s “The Vessel” Content Drop Lands On June 11th Including A New Playable Area And Story Elements

Early access co-op survival shooter GTFO will receive a brand new content update, titled The Vessel, on June 11th at 13:00 CEST / 12:00 BST / 07:00 ET / 04:00 PT.

The new ‘Rundown 003’ as the update is referred to by developer 10 Chambers Collective, brings with it a brand new game area in The Complex dubbed ‘Lab.’ Alongside, The Vessels introduces no less than seven freshly crafted expeditions to replace the existing ones, a selection of new weapons, and a mysterious newcomer to the roster of enemies, reportedly of the horrifying variety. 10 Chambers Collective is seemingly eager to continue shaping and refining the GTFO experience with brand new content to keep players interested.

As GTFO’s third major update since the game launched in early access in 2019, The Vessel aims to add more narrative weight to the game with a fleshing out of the backstory. 10 Chambers Collective is hoping players will join forces to sleuth out backstory beats as a community. The developer explains that The Vessel is strewn with clues that paint a clearer picture of nightmarish activities in the underground facility known as The Complex.

10 Chambers Collective has reportedly drafted in help from master storytellers to help shape GTFO’s so far enigmatic story. Adam Gascoine, who worked on the likes of Doom Eternal and The Last of Us, joined recently. That’s some narrative pedigree right there, which bodes well for the mysteries players are set to uncover in The Vessel. Alongside, there’s been new hires for art, design, and voice acting as GTFO marches towards a 1.0 release.

As for the new enemy, 10 Chambers Collective hasn’t said much other than that it’s audio was recorded with the help of one of the team’s offspring, seemingly continuing the tradition of a heavy focus on the quality of GTFO’s sound design. Expect haunting, child-like simpering, or something along those lines.

As is customary, The Vessel will be available for all owners of GTFO for free. If you’ve yet to have a go, it’s currently available on Steam in early access with an eye on a full launch in the not too distant future, although a firm date remains elusive so far.
