Big news is incoming for fans of Microsoft Flight Simulator as developers Asabo Studios have announced that the game is set to receive DLSS support in the coming months, certainly at some point during 2022.

The popular flight sim, which also arrived on Xbox towards the end of 2021 receives a consistent stream of updates, both from the devs and the third party community, and recently received its first paid-for official DLC in the form of the Reno Air Races expansion.

Besides DLSS support, which should truly be a boon for those playing without high-end GPUs we also got news that there will be several surprise releases for the sim throughout the year, alongside the regular Worl Updates and Sim Updates that are released every few weeks.

Speaking of world updates, World Update 7 will cover Australia and include much-updated satellite imagery. Following on from that, World Update 8 will cover the Iberia region, adding Spain and Portugal to the areas that have received extra love since the game launched.

Interspersed between these world updates we will also get the Sim Updates, the first of which is be mainly bug fixes and stability tweaks.

Other updates and cool bits that are confirmed now are the arrival of helicopters and gliders – both of which will land in the fall. We will also finally get the much-awaited Top Gun: Maverick expansion pack to tie in with the movie release in May, alongside more technical updates such as a new prop wash and propeller simulation for aircraft such as the Cessna.

When Microsoft Flight Simulator was released Asobo said there was at least a 10-year road-map, and now into year two things are certainly beginning to get more exciting.

As ever, more info when we get it.
