MSI Launches Pre-orders For 5K2K Ultrawide Prestige PS341WU Monitor

Following the announcement of its latest Prestige PS341WU monitor earlier this year, MSI has confirmed it is now available for pre-order for the princely sum of $1999.99.

MSI Prestige PS341WU Monitor

As the name indicates, the Prestige PS341WU is one prestigious monitor offering users an ultrawide 34-inch display racking up to a staggering resolution of 5120×2160 with an aspect ratio of 21:9.

The monitor is geared towards photoshop work and video editing rather specifically for gaming. The ultrawide screen that MSI is calling 5K2K offers a horizontally stretched native 4K display. It might not suit gaming per se but could prove useful in real-time strategy games where that extra space to survey the battlefield is crucial to winning and losing games.

MSI’s marketing blurb says the Prestige PS341WU offers a ”4K full-size window and a buffer workspace to preview the content simultaneously to bring you a more efficient multi-tasking experience.” So it’s 4K with a little more on the side.

It does have its limitations, though. The refresh rate sits at a relatively low 60Hz, while the gray-to-gray response time racks up to 8 ms, and there’s no support for either NVIDIA G-Sync nor AMD FreeSync equivalent.

The Prestige PS341WU does, however, offer 7 billion accurate color gamut, IPS Nano Color, 1200:1 contrast, 98% DCI-P3, 100% SRGB, a slew of connectivity options like HDMI 2.0, USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type A/B, DisplayPort 1.4., and VESA Certified DisplayHDR 600 for excellent brightness levels.

The MSI Prestige PS341WU launches in just a few short days on September 16th. Will you be laying down your hard-earned cash for one? Let us know in the comments below!
