MW2 Error Code 0x887a0005 – How To Fix
Modern Warfare 2 players are facing a whole host of errors and issues with their game as they try and get into the game, as is the same with basically any modern multiplayer launch (and especially those released by Activision-Blizzard). One of these errors is the MW2 Error Code 0x887a0005.
But how do you fix this error code? What does it even mean? We take a look and find out exactly what you need to know.
What Is MW2 Error Code 0x887a0005?
So while there’s no official statement on what exactly the MW2 Error Code 0x8887a0005 is, we can take a pretty damn good guess based on older Call Of Duty titles such as Call Of Duty Vanguard.
The error in Call Of Duty Vanguard tended to occur whenever somebody tried to play either the Call Of Duty Vanguard campaign or the zombies mode in that game. It would display a “This application has unexpectedly stopped working” message.
Similar to Call Of Duty Vanguard, this error in Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 will occur occasionally when people boot up the campaign or the multiplayer portion of the game.

How Do I Fix The MW2 Error Code?
There are a few different ways to try to fix the error. You could go straight to validating the files or the ultimate admission you can’t fix it by uninstalling and reinstalling the game, or you could try and start Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 with admin rights.
You do that by doing the following steps:
- Open File Explorer
- Find The MW2 Installation Folder
- Right-Click The MW2 Launcher And Choose Properties
- Click The Compatibility Tab
- Tick The Box That Allows The Program To Run As Administrator
Now you will have to repeat those steps for whatever launcher you’re using to play the game, but once it’s done the game should (emphasis on the should) work as intended.
