Is the remaster real or are we clutching (the only car joke I could think of) at straws?

One of the biggest cult driving games on the PC ever, Need for Speed Underground 2 has been crying out for a remastered version for ages. Fans of the game demand it, modders have had a go at it but so far there has been nothing from EA, the original publishers

Need for Speed Underground 2 would, in our opinion be quite tricky to pull off as a remaster, not because of the game itself, rather the large volume of licensed cars and music the original had. A lot of those deals might need to be renegotiated, and well, that is a pain in the ass for publishers to do, so you end up with a potential disaster like the recent GTA effort.

Need for Speed Underground 2 Remastered Release Date

There has been a surge of rumors and specualation recently but no hard evidence the project even exists at this stage. We mentioned that there have been a few mods bearing the same title and every now and then a 4K screenshot gets ‘leaked’ but there are a lot of nefarious people out there, especially on Reddit crying out for Karma and until we see official confirmation land in the WePC Gaming inbox, well, it’s pinch of salt time.

Need for Speed Underground 2 Remastered trailer – is it fake?

The Reddit post below has caused a flurry of activity and appears to show a trailer for a remastered version of the game, all set to Riders on the Storm by The Doors. Click through and make of it what you will. Are we set to hear an announcement on the game that sold many a PlayStation 2 back in the day?

We’ll add more news to this page as and when (and if) it comes through.
