Sony has announced a brand new State of Play. It’ll be broadcast next Thursday at 11PM GMT.

Brand New State Of Play Coming At You

The blog post reads:

It’s been more than two months since our last State of Play- who’s ready for a new one? Tune in live next Thursday, June 2 for nearly 30 minutes of announcements and updates from the world of PlayStation. We’ll have some exciting reveals from our third party partners, plus a sneak peek at several games in development for PlayStation VR2.”

The last State of Play happened on March 9 and was primarily a focus on Japanese Publishers, showing off games such as Exoprimal, Valkyrie Chronicles and announcing an update for Returnal. The upcoming State of Play will likely satisfy people waiting on news for PSVR2, while also teasing the potential upcoming year for the company. It’s worth noting that nowhere in the post does Sony mention first-party games, so fans waiting on news for God of War: Ragnarok will be waiting a little while longer.

What could be shown off?

As for what exactly could be shown off, I’m a hopeful man. Developers working on Final Fantasy XVI have previously stated that we would be getting updates on the progress of the game during the Spring period, which falls exactly into this window here. Even a taste of gameplay would be enough to satisfy desperate and hungry fans. It’s also likely that we see gameplay from Hogwarts Legacy, seeing as Sony has been pushing that game as being one of their big holiday releases of this year. Past that however, it’s really up in the air. Most of the PSVR2 titles, if not all of them, will likely be completely fresh reveals given the nature of the system.
