Steam jokingly mocks users when entering incorrect Family View pin
Nice try kid, you almost had it.

Steam Family View is a fantastic feature that parents can use to choose what parts of Steam are accessible to their children. However, it seems that Steam gets a little humorously cocky when entering the incorrect pin. Steam jokingly mocks users when entering an incorrect Family View pin.
Steam sarcastically mocks incorrect family pin attempts
When you enable Steam Family View, you can restrict access to certain parts of Steam to help keep your child or vulnerable person safe. Or to stop them “accidentally” spending all your money. This is a fantastic feature to have as it allows parents peace of mind when their children are using the Family View-enabled Steam account.
Parents can also rest assured that any incorrect pin attempts made by their children will be sarcastically mocked, as they should be.
Imagine being 12 years old, trying to turn off Family View to have access to a game you shouldn’t be allowed to play, only to be hit with a “Nice try” every time you enter the pin incorrectly. I for one would be fuming.
This discovery was first made by u/logoNM over on the r/Steam subreddit.
It’s unclear whether this is supposed to come across as mockery, but it is funny, we’d like to think that this was put here for that exact purpose. Because who hasn’t tried to break passwords as a kid?
These little easter eggs are part of what makes Steam so special, and what makes it so fun to use, beyond the standard game launching, there’s a whole set of features that are sometimes criminally overlooked. Especially when Steam jokingly mocks users when entering an incorrect Family View pin.
What does Steam Family View do?
As we mentioned before, the Steam Family view enables you to control what content is accessed on your Steam account. Enabling Family View gives you a tab at the top of your Steam client that enables you to place your client into Family View mode.
When this mode is active, it requires a pin, set by you, to deactivate. Its primary purpose is to block out any aspect of Steam you do not wish to be accessed when using Steam, this includes the Community Market, Worskhop, certain games, and anything you want.
Some users even use Family View as an extra level of security, as a lot of your account can be locked behind a Pin.
