Apple iPad deal (9th Generation, A13 Bionic, 10.2″)
Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 deal (2022, ARM, 10.5″)
How does this iPad deal compare to the Galaxy Tab deal?
As you can see below the pixel density (pixels per inch aka PPI) is greater on the iPad, it also has a higher peak screen brightness (500nits vs the 350nits on the Tab A8), however the Galaxy Tab A8 has an aspect ratio closer to 16:9 so is better for watching TV/films/videos in this respect.
In terms of battery life, you can expect the iPad to edge ahead at around 9 hours compared to the approximate 8 hours on the Galaxy Tab, though this isn’t a massive difference. The Tab A8 has a superior speaker system however – with four speakers supporting Dolby Atmos compared to the two on the iPad (which don’t support Atmos) – again better for watching videos/movies.
The Tab A8 has a similar quality rear camera, but inferior front-facing (towards the user) camera, meaning it is less good than the iPad at video calls. Although greater storage options are available, for the iPad, in this particular deal it’s limited to 64GB compared to the 128GB on the Tab A8. Stylus support on the iPad is however superior (although neither deal includes one) – and it’s a shame that the Galaxy Tab doesn’t support the Samsung S pen.
