Dragon’s Dogma 2 has finally been released, but reviews have been criticizing the PC performance. Sadly this isn’t a uncommon sight in the world of AAA games, and the lack of DLSS 3 frame generation doesn’t help. However, one modder has simply added support themselves, less than a day since release.

Even with the best GPU and best CPU for Dragon’s Dogma 2, people are running into some seriously shoddy performance. Upscaling tech is in place, it still isn’t enough for many people. The next course of action would be frame generation, but official support is missing. Luckily, we can show you this free mod from PureDark that unlocks it.

User already releases mod to enable DLSS 3 frame generation

One of the interesting things about this whole fiasco is that frame generation implementation has already been spotted in the game’s files, but we can only assume it isn’t yet enabled due to crashes. Some users have indeed reported crashes/freezes using the mod, but it’s the best we’ve got so far and you should see massive framerate improvements.

Anyone with a 40-series Nvidia GPU should be making the most of DLSS 3 frame generation tech with the latest demanding AAA titles, not that we support games using it as a crutch for poor performance.

DLSS 3 frame generation will arrive in future update for DD2

Capcom customer service put out an Official Dragon’s Dogma 2 Troubleshooting & Issue Reporting Thread on the Steam forums, and it has to do some serious heavy lifting based on the performance woes we’ve seen so far. The launch has been far from ideal for PC gamers, especially with the lack of official support for DLSS 3 frame generation just yet – but it is coming. Still no word on FSR3 frame gen though.

At the very bottom of the Steam thread, you’ll find a section on ‘DLSS Super Resolution’. Capcom say that they are aware of issues when using Super Resolution, and that they plan to add Frame Generation in a ‘future title update’. A bit vague for our liking, but it’s something.
