In anticipation of Global Accessibility Awareness Day on May 18, Apple has introduced a range of upcoming iOS features that will be available on iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices later in the year. The most exciting of which is the ability to train a digital voice that sounds exactly like you do. This is Apple Personal Voice.

Apple Personal Voice

The aim of the Personal voice is to give users with speech issues a literal voice to properly express what they need to. This incredibly unique piece of innovation can apparently be trained in less than 15 minutes by reading randomly generated prompts and allowing your iPhone to listen. This is truly a game-changer for those who struggle to speak.

The great news is, your voice data never leaves your iPhone, all of your voice data is locally stored and on-device machine learning is used to turn you into an AI iPhone voice. Now, the real question is, can you replace Siri with yourself?

Apple’s new Live Speech feature on iOS will include the option of using Personal Voice. This feature allows users to type their desired message, which will then be spoken aloud during in-person conversations, phone calls, and FaceTime calls. Notably, Personal Voice is designed to work seamlessly with all accents and dialects.

Apple Personal Voice release date

It is most likely that Apple’s Personal Voice feature will roll out with the IOS 17 update.

In the lead-up to WWDC in June, Apple has continued its tradition of introducing new accessibility features, reinforcing its commitment to prioritizing accessibility within the iOS ecosystem.

Although Apple did not specify the exact release date for these updates later this year, it is plausible that they will coincide with the launch of iOS 17 based on past announcements.

Final Word

In preparation for Global Accessibility Awareness Day, Apple has unveiled upcoming iOS features, including the groundbreaking Personal Voice. This innovative technology allows users with speech difficulties to train a digital voice that sounds just like them.

By reading prompts for a short time, users can create a customized voice on their iPhone, enabling them to express themselves more effectively. Notably, all voice data remains securely stored on the device, ensuring privacy.

While Apple has not provided a specific release date for these updates, it is likely that they will coincide with the launch of iOS 17, reflecting Apple’s ongoing commitment to prioritizing accessibility within its ecosystem.
