What is the max level cap in Baldur’s Gate 3?
Now that Baldur’s Gate 3 is no longer in early access, the maximum level cap is 12. This level cap applies to you and all of your allies. While this may seem low, it actually grants you access to some pretty rad high-level spells.
Typically, the typical level cap in a D&D campaign is 20. Because of this, it is reasonable to think that the level cap could increase with additional DLC in the future. For now, the cap has been set at 12.
This max level is for your character level meaning if you choose to multiclass, the levels of your classes can add up to 12. The previous level cap during early access was level five as players explore the first act of the game. This was just enough for magical classes to gain access to third-level spells or for fighters to get their extra attack.
With the current level cap, you are able to get multiple feats and multiclass effectively. Those who are upset by the max level will just need to wait and see if it increases in the future.
With the new level cap, players can now use spells like Chain Lightning and Otto’s Irresistible Dance. Many players knew about this level increase prior to the game’s official release on PC. This is thanks to a community newsletter that Larian Studios released on Steam. It is unknown if this level cap will increase any further.
