Battlefield 2042 Voice Chat – Lots of shooting, not much talking as vital component MIA at launch
No chit chat in Battlefield at the start? What are EA and DICE playing at? When is it coming?

Well this is annoying. EA and DICE have confirmed that there will be a distinct lack of voice chat for players in the multi-player shooter when it launches and this is borne out by checking the Early Access version that came out today (Friday).
The devs have promised the feature will be added ‘ASAP’ but haven’t really elaborated on why such a critical component is missing in action when the game launches with no in-build communication.
For many, it may not be an issue if friends are using external software to chat such as Discord, but if you just want to jump into a squad on your own you literally have no way of communicating with your team in real-time.
It does seem extraordinary, almost as unusual as Call of Duty Vanguard neglecting to add a Pause button in its single-player Zombie mode.
Not ready for prime time?
We assume that the Voice-chat system was not ready in time but not deemed enough of a dealbreaker to delay the game this close to Christmas but it undoubtedly will be an issue for many players.
A post on EA’s website alluded to the issue: “For many of you, we know that you’ll prefer to use VOIP to keep the lines of communication open during gameplay, and a heads up that this is presently set to come in after launch.”
We still aren’t sure how a team-based squad shooter is going to cope if there is no communication between the team as it will provide a huge advantage to teams playing together in Discord. Let’s hope it gets patched in sooner rather than later
