The Diablo 4 season journey is finally here for fans to enjoy. Titled the Season of the Malignant, the season focuses on stopping the Malignance, a curse that’s infecting monsters and humans alike in Sanctuary after the defeat of Lilith.
There are plenty of new bosses to fight, new quests to complete, and the new mechanic Malignant Hearts to find to gain Malignant Powers. With so much new content, there’s plenty of gameplay for players to keep them satisfied for the entirety of the season that Blizzard has brought to the game.
While fans are exploring the content in the Seasonal Realm, each quest they complete and each monster they slay will help towards this Season’s Journey. What is the Season Journey in Diablo IV? That’s what we’re here to let you know.
What is the Season Journey in Diablo 4?
The Season Journey for Season One of Diablo IV, and for each season after, is a collection of objectives you complete that help push you forward in the season by rewarding you with things like cosmetics, Legendary Aspects, and Favor to be used in the battle pass. The Season Journey contains chapters for grouping up those objectives, and each chapter gets progressively harder.
The Season Journey is how players can track their progress through the season, and how they are rewarded for their hard work. The objectives range from completing cellars and collecting items in the overworld to changing the World Tier using Renown. If you’re in a later chapter, the objectives will be more difficult, but the rewards will be greater.
Do I have to buy the battle pass to get the Season Journey?
All objectives and rewards contained in the Season Journey of Diablo IV are completely free with the game.
One of the other free new features part of the Season Journey is Season Blessings, modifiers, and bonuses that are bought using Smoldering Ashes earned from the battle pass. The Season Blessings can bring a variety of effects to your game and your new character for the season, including earning XP quicker and increasing the chance of getting specific Malignant Hearts.
Luckily, you don’t need to have purchased the Premium Battle Pass to get Season Blessings; all Smoldering Ashes used to buy them are earned for free through gameplay. The only advantage is getting tier skips from purchasing the Premium Battle Pass, but you can earn all of them through the Free Battle Pass.
What is included in the Season Journey of Diablo 4?
The Season Journey contains seven chapters for players to complete objectives while helping the former priest of the Cathedral of Light, Cormond, stop the corruption known as the Malignance from spreading and destroying Sanctuary.
Along with the Season Blessings comes other rewards earned by completing each chapter of the Season Journey. There is a whole host of new Legendary Aspects that can be earned to power up your new seasonal character, jewelry you can use to socket Malignant Hearts into for more power, and special caches of goodies unlocked at the end of each chapter. These can contain:
- Elixirs
- Armor
- Nightmare Sigils
- Murmuring Obols
And more for salvaging. There is plenty of power and Favor to gain throughout the entirety of the Season of the Malignant, and the Season Journey is the best way to take advantage of that power.
