Career Mode may not be quite as popular as Ultimate Team (FUT) is for EA Sports FC 24, but it’s a game mode that nearly everyone plays. Being able to helm a team is unlike any other experience in sports simulator games, and FC’s Career Mode is one of the best. Here are some tips for getting better at it as a player.

How can I improve my player in EA Sports FC 24 Career Mode?

When you first start out as a player on FC 24’s Career Mode, you’re a backup on the bench. You’re not a starter, you’re not challenging for the Ballon d’Or or Player of the Year awards, or anything like that. You have to get better to do any of that.

The first thing you need to do is get into your coaches’ favor. They set the lineup, and they have to like you and see that you’re doing well. The better you do, the more minutes you will get on the pitch. This is true for anyone playing in the midfield, the attacking third, and the defending third in player career mode.

To get better, you have to earn XP and get better attributes. The most straightforward way to get better in EA FC Career Mode is just by playing. The more you play, the more XP you will earn. However, that is a double-edged sword.

When you start out, you will play maybe 10 minutes per match. The coaching staff’s tactical vision doesn’t offer a low 60-overall player that much playing time. Therefore, it’s hard to play well in such a short amount of time.

Compounding this, you will have player goals. You’ll likely need to achieve a match rating of 7.0, score a goal, and have 55% team possession, for example. Those are hard to do in such a short amount of time. If you fail, you won’t get more minutes.

Therefore, you may need to seek out other ways of improving. Training is perhaps the best way to improve your player. Not only does it make you better at the game by allowing you to practice in scenarios and develop your skills as a gamer, but it adds a lot of XP.

If you do training every seven days, you can earn loads of XP and quickly earn favor. The more you do that, the more playing time you’ll get. The more playing time you get, the better you can play. Your wing play can improve if you have more time to do so.

Once you’ve reached an A grade for a certain drill, you can auto-play it. If you have three drills with auto-play enabled, you can simulate it and earn the top XP marks. With an occasional boost, you can earn 4,500 XP by doing nothing at all with a simulated training plan.

This will help you get more playing time and level your avatar up. When you do that, you earn skill points that can be spent on making your attributes better. You can kick better, score better, pass better, defend better, and more if you use your skill points.

Finally, keep in mind your personality. Depending on how high it gets, your virtuoso, maverick, and heartbeat points (the three player personalities) can directly translate to a better OVR and attribute upgrades.

Players do have a new player agent that helps them with player development. They set your career goals and tell you what you need to do to achieve them. Getting into the lineup is separate, though. You do that on your own. There’s no rush to get in as you can and will play every game as a sub, but it’s more enjoyable to be on the entire time rather than a portion.

Try goalkeeping, shooting, defending, or passing with this in mind. With this style of play, you can become a star in no time and force your way into your squad’s lineup. Note that these are not applicable in manager career mode. Make sure your player is a tactical fit for the probable line-ups.

EA Sports FC 24 has new features and more in Career Mode. You can be a striker and employ devastating short passing, exhibit your supreme tactical knowledge, land goal-scoring opportunities, and more with it when it comes out on September 29.

FC 24 is available for Xbox Series X|S, PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4.
