Margit the Fell Omen is one of the first true roadblocks players are likely to face in Elden Ring. Exploring the Limgrave region can power you up with runes, weapons, and skills. So much so that you may start to feel a little overpowered. But then Margit comes along to thoroughly dispel those notions. Getting access to Stormveil Castle isn’t easy with this powerful boss standing in the way. Here, we’ll walk you through how to defeat Margit and progress along your journey to become the Elden Lord!

Elden Ring How to beat Margit

Unless you’re the type that goes for a challenge above all else, it is wise not to go into the Margit fight alone. You have the opportunity to Summon Cooperator by the fog gate before entering. Summoning Sorcerer Rogier prior to starting the fight will help enormously.  And not only because of his barrage of sorcerous projectiles chipping away at Margit’s health. The split in Margit’s focus is very handy, as he can wear your health down quickly when you are his sole target

The Spirit Jellyfish summon acquired from Roderika at Stormhill Shack will also work wonders against Margit. It works as another body to soak up hits and distract his attention, but also the poison clouds it spews can really deal some damage to Margit over the course of the fight.

Margit is susceptible to being staggered, at which point a backstab can deal a large chunk of damage to his huge health pool. There are large windows of time in between Margit’s lumbering swings, giving you time to chip away at his considerable health pool.

Margit the Fell Omen Boss mechanics

  • Right from the start, Elden Ring‘s Margit the Fell Omen will not allow you to keep your distance. He often spends approximately two seconds pretending to be an old man with limited movement, before hurling a dagger at you and sprinting to close the distance. The spectral golden daggers don’t deal too much damage, but stagger and leave you wide open for more powerful hits.
  • When close to you, Margit lashes out in a sweep with his staff, often followed up with a shorter sweep with his summoned dagger. The staff attacks are slow and easily telegraphed, but this can throw you off your guard, as Margit will sometimes immediately follow them up with dagger attacks to throw you off your tempo.
  • Margit can also utilise slow three hit combos with the staff. And that’s not all. At long to mid-range, he can wind up and charge towards you, swinging the staff in a large arc once he closes the distance
  • Margit can swiftly spin and then back off to put more distance between yourself and him.
  • At the halfway point of his health, Margit gains significant speed and damage dealing capabilities Spectral golden weapons that gain in strength after the halfway point. A leaping smashing ground pound with a huge war hammer. And a long blade that he makes multiple slashes with, and a final stab with his gnarled staff.

Persevere and Margit the Fell Omen will eventually fall, granting you access to Stormveil Castle proper.
