Are you looking for a trusty steed in Final Fantasy 16? We are not talking about actual horses. Instead, we are talking about a Chocobo – Square Enix’s go-to mount for Final Fantasy games.

Creative director Kazutoyo Maehiro spoke about how Chocobos would be in the game along with Moogles. Chocobos are one of those Final Fantasy elements that fans just couldn’t do without.

Chocobos are a common sight to the people of Valisthea and can even be found roaming the lands of the world. A silhouette of these creatures can even be seen on some signs. Why fast travel around Valisthea when you can use a Chocobo to get around? This guide will show you how to get a Chocobo in Final Fantasy 16.

In order to unlock Chocobo mounts in FFXVI, you need to complete the White-Winged Wonder side quest. Shortly after going through Martha’s Rest in Rosaria for the first time, Rowan will mention a Chocobo named Whiteheart.

Whiteheart has been missing for some time and Rowan will ask you to track the creature down. This is a fairly straightforward quest that will take Clive almost no time to finish. Be prepared for combat, however, because you and Torgal will need to fight some bandits along the way.

Once the quest is complete, you will unlock the Chocobo Whistle which will allow you to call your friend. It may not be a warhorse, but there is no better way to explore the world of Valisthea.

From this point on, you will have access to a Chocobo mount to explore the world and help you get around easier. This makes picking up those old side-quests must easier and gives you an entirely different worldview.

There is plenty more to discover in Final Fantasy 16 such as hidden treasures like Orchestrion Rolls and meaningful communication with NPCs. Be sure to stop by the Hunt Board as well to locate some Notorious Marks.
