Final Fantasy 16 is filled with fast-paced combat and an intense story. The characters you meet along the way and the companions that fight alongside you are not easily forgotten.
One of the most loyal of Clive’s companions is Torgal – the puppy that Clive had as a child, now fully grown and ready to battle. Torgal can fight alongside Clive, helping to perform combos and even healing him when things look dicey.
Torgal will stand by Clive through thick and thin, helping him throughout the game and being one of the few companions that you could count as a party member despite being AI controlled. This guide will show you how to command Torgal in Final Fantasy 16. Just be sure to praise him for his work.
How to issue Torgal commands in Final Fantasy 16
Torgal’s controls are pretty simple. To access the Torgal Menu, press left on the directional pad (D-Pad). This will bring up three options; Sic, Heal, and Ravage. These are activated by pressing the other directions on the D-Pad.
- Right on the D-Pad activates healing
- Up on the D-Pad activates Sic (attack)
- Down on the D-Pad activates Ravage
Torgal gets his own menu that you can access after you leave the hideaway and head to the Greatwood. Once there, you will get a quick tutorial on how to control Torgal during battle.
By default, Torgal will attack foes but can be commanded to attack specific ones using the Sic command. The Ravage ability has the unique effect of launching enemies into the air when Torgal hits them.
If you perform a perfect dodge and then immediately use the Sic command, Torgal will also perform what is called a precision Sic that deals moderate damage. The more you mess with Torgal’s commands, the more combos you will discover.
Make sure to use Torgal to your advantage during combat. He is great at staggering foes and can help you out in a pinch if Clive is low on health.
