Combat is something you will see a lot of in Final Fantasy 16. Square Enix games are filled with fighting mechanics so the next time you are in a scrap, you have a way to succeed. The story of Final Fantasy 16 revolves around Clive Rosfield who is seeking revenge for the death of his younger brother.

Throughout the game, you will see your fair share of fights. When you get hurt, you will need to heal. Forget to do so and Clive will easily fall. This real-time action game isn’t easy, so stock up on potions.

There are multiple mechanics that you will need to get used to in Final Fantasy 16 such as perfect dodges and parrying. You will also want to make sure you have an understanding of the abilities in the game. This guide will show you how to heal in Final Fantasy 16.

Final Fantasy 16 – How to heal

Healing isn’t very hard in Final Fantasy XVI. From the start, you will have the ability to use potions. Potions will automatically be equipped to your hotbar. To activate a potion, press up or left on the D-Pad on your PlayStation controller.

Depending on which button you hit, you will either use a normal potion or a hi-potion. Normal potions restore a small amount of HP while hi-potions restore a modest amount. Along with potions, you will get access to various abilities that grant Clive health. Abilities such as Flames of Rebirth can heal Clive slightly during battle.

Later on in the game, you will have access to Torgal – Clive’s wolf companion. Torgal has multiple abilities that can be utilized such as Sic, Ravage, and Heal. Torgal can cast the cure spell on Clive during combat and can also help perform combos. You can command Torgal to use the cure spell by pressing left on the D-Pad to switch to Torgal’s menu and then pressing right on the D-Pad to activate healing.

Certain items can help you remain untouched during combat and can also help you heal. Wearing the Ring of Timely Healing will allow you to auto-heal using potions during combat. The Ring of Timely Evasion, on the other hand, will allow you to automatically dodge attacks.

There are more items for you to try out to further help you such as the Ring of Timely Strikes, Ring of Timely Focus, and the Ring of Timely Assistance.

Of course, you don’t always want to rely on healing in Final Fantasy 16’s combat so it is important to understand your Eikon abilities. As you explore Valisthea, you will gain access to different Eikons like Phoenix and Garuda which give you moves that help you dodge attacks and avoid taking unwanted damage.

Be sure to try out the demo before playing the full game to get a grasp on Final Fantasy 16’s real-time combat.
