Chocobos have been part of the Square Enix Final Fantasy franchise since the beginning, and as a result, there have been many ways to call these large birds. You might have used a Chocobo whistle or the Chocobo menus. Thankfully, in Final Fantasy 16, this process is much easier!

Clive’s Chocobo, Ambrosia, is not the only blast of the past Clive will interact with on his quest for revenge. He will also reunite with Torgal and Jill Warrick as he journey’s through the realm, battling various Eikons and their Dominants. But first, learn how to call your Chocobo in this Final Fantasy 16 Chocobo guide.

How do you call your Chocobo in Final Fantasy 16?

Once you have obtained your trusty steed, you might wonder how to call him and prevent walking everywhere in Valisthea. This great mode of transportation will help you cover large distances in a reasonable amount of time. To call Ambrosia your Chocobo, press R3 on your PlayStation 5 controller.

Hold the button once you have pressed R3 until you have filled the circle, and your little Chocobo will appear. Thankfully, the summoning options will remain on your screen in the bottom right-hand corner near your battle abilities

Once your feathered friend has arrived after pressing R3 to initial a Chocobo Whistle, there will be a mini-chocobo icon with an X indicating the button you must use to mount your Chocobo. Once on your Chocobo mount, you can begin your off-roading wilderness exploration.

However, note that you will not be able to use Ambrosia in some regions of Valisthea, as this mode of transport is used outside significant locations. You will see the little Chocobo icon pop up when Ambrosia can be used! Though we did see Ambrosia take a nasty hit to the head during the prologue, we can’t deny that she is part of the mismatched teammates in Clive’s arsenal.
