There are many games that end up going the route of being online only nowadays. Luckily, Square Enix has not done much to continue this trend. Those who enjoy Final Fantasy 14 know that the game is online only, but that hasn’t been true for other entries in the franchise.

Final Fantasy 16 has you playing as Clive Rosfield as he seeks revenge over the death of his brother after a battle between the Phoenix and Ifrit Eikons. Will you need to explore Valisthea online? Is Final Fantasy 16 online only?

Does Final Fantasy 16 require an internet connection?

Luckily, like most Final Fantasy games, Final Fantasy 16 is not an online-exclusive game. Final Fantasy 16 is an offline single-player action RPG. That doesn’t mean the game isn’t exclusive. Those who want to enjoy can only do so on PlayStation.

Final Fantasy XVI will have online features that you can utilize if you have an internet connection. These online features include a leaderboard that lets you compare combat scores with other players. No other part of the gameplay will require an internet connection and the online feature in the game is not required to play it.

There is a chance that a day-one patch could be required to play the game as many games require patches to run nowadays. There is no official information surrounding this but keep it in mind if you plan on purchasing the game.

Those who want to try out Final Fantasy 16 before the official launch on June 22 can do so by downloading the demo on their platform. The demo gives you a chance to try out the protagonist’s many abilities and gives you a glimpse into the story surrounding the lands of Valisthea and the dominants that control the mighty summons.

Take hold of Clive’s weapon and try out the amazing combat as you play through the prologue and attempt to shield Clive’s brother Joshua from danger. Your progress will carry over to the full game on the release date.
