Square Enix is known for adding a lot of cutscenes to the games they make. Perhaps the franchise of the games most known for cutscenes is Final Fantasy. No matter which title you play, you will need to sit through a movie’s worth of cinematic moments.

Final Fantasy 16, like previous titles in the series, has many cutscenes to sit through. Sometimes, you just want to get them out of the way and get to the gameplay. Luckily, it just takes a button push. This guide will show you how to skip cutscenes in Final Fantasy 16.

Final Fantasy 16 – How to skip cutscenes

When you come across a cutscene you want to skip in Final Fantasy 16, press the options button. This will pause the cutscene you are on. While the cutscene is paused, you will see the skip button and the Active Time Lore button in the bottom right corner of the screen.

Hold the triangle button on your PlayStation controller to skip the cutscene you are on. Holding down the touchpad will open the Active Time Lore section of the menu.

Pausing cutscenes is something Square Enix has allowed players to do for a while. The option was also available in the Final Fantasy VII remake. Typically, these menus also have a photo mode option. Pictures taken of these screens will show the Square Enix logo as well.

Other games in the series like Final Fantasy XIV give you the ability to skip cutscenes, but only ones that you have seen from the DLCs like Endwalker, Heavensward, and Shadowbringers.

Can all Final Fantasy 16 cutscenes be skipped?

Unfortunately, you cannot skip all cutscenes in Final Fantasy 16. Certain cinematic moments cannot be avoided like important story cutscenes and cinematic strike and dodge scenes during combat. You can still pause these cutscenes, but the skip options do not appear.

You can only skip non-essential cutscenes. This was made apparent in the Final Fantasy 16 Demo that can be downloaded from the PS Store.
