There are plenty of weapons and armor for you to collect throughout Final Fantasy 16. Each sword you make is one step closer to you beating the game and gaining the ultimate power you seek.
The main story of Final Fantasy XVI is broken up into many quests that Clive and his companions must complete. Once you reach the end of the onslaught of main and side quests, you will be rewarded with a powerful weapon; Ultima.
You won’t get Ultima for a long time. Until then, you will be crafting some of the most powerful weapons in the game, searching for crafting materials across Valisthea, and hitting the level cap. All the main story quests will be worth it when you reach the end. This guide will show you how to unlock the Ultima weapon in Final Fantasy 16.
How to obtain the Ultima weapon in Final Fantasy 16
Ultima weapon can only be obtained by playing the game in Final Fantasy Mode. This mode is unlocked after beating the game and selectable from the main menu when playing on new game plus. The Ultima weapon cannot be obtained on your first playthrough.
Now that you are in Final Fantasy Mode, you need to complete the following side quests in Cid’s Hideaway:
- Blacksmith Blues
- Blacksmith Blues II
- Blacksmith Blues III
- Blacksmith Blues IV
Going this will allow you to craft the Ragnarok weapon. Instead of using Ragnarok to create Gotterdammerung as you would in your first playthrough, it is one of the crafting materials needed to make Ultima. This also means you don’t need to kill the monsters needed to get Orichalcum. Note that the quests will still get you the Gotterdammerung design draft.
While you are completing the Blacksmith’s Blues side questline, you will need to complete the main story missions to obtain Ultima Weapon Crafting Material. You will get multiple of this material automatically as you progress through the campaign in NG+.
The final piece of the weapon will be in your inventory from the start of new game plus. This item is the Utterance of Creation.
Altogether, you will need the following items to create Ultima weapon:
- Ragnarok
- Utterance of Creation
- Three Ultima Crafting Material
Once you have all of this, go to Blackthrone to forge your new weapon. With this weapon created, you will have the most powerful sword in the game.
