Many gamers believe that Fortnite is dying. Epic Games’ popular battle royale title has been out since September 2017 and will soon turn six. While it’s no longer at its peak, a lot of players believe that the game is no longer popular. However, that may not be true.

A few months ago, Epic released a public Fortnite player count. It shows active players not only for regular modes, such as Battle Royale and Zero Build but also for every Creative map. This player count shows us the popularity of the game in 2024, as well as the most popular UEFN maps.

Let’s take a look at the player count and see what it shows us.

Fortnite dying is a popular topic. However, the number of registered users and monthly players keeps growing, showing that the game is still very much alive. If Epic Games keeps constantly developing it, we don’t expect the video game to die anytime soon. Despite not being at its peak anymore, Fortnite is still very popular. Not only this, but the video game pulls millions of players every single day.

With the release of Chapter 4 – Season 3, the popular battle royale game reached its peak since the public count was released with 2.1 million players. Fortnite has at least half a million players at any given moment, and its daily peak is usually at 1.5 to 2 million concurrent players.

To put this into perspective, Call of Duty: Warzone 2’s all-time peak is less than half a million on Steam. However, this number has gone all the way down to 70,000, which shows how far ahead Fortnite is. While Warzone’s player count only includes Steam users, it’s unlikely that its daily peak surpasses 300,000 concurrent players.

Apex Legends is doing much better, reaching daily peaks of 300,000 concurrent users on Steam. While this is good enough to compete with Fortnite, it’s not enough to surpass it. Considering that Epic Games’ video game will soon turn six, its player count is very impressive.

The battle royale genre is still popular, and many content creators are interested in it. However, Fortnite is the most popular battle royale game, on both PlayStation and Xbox. Unfortunately, the hugely popular game is no longer available on iOS devices due to a lawsuit with Apple, but this doesn’t seem to be a big problem for Epic Games.

Fortnite has had many live events in the past, such as Travis Scott’s concert and The End, and these events have been popular both in the game and on Twitch. Furthermore, each platform has a massive player base, from PC to each console. While Nintendo Switch and Android are less popular, these platforms still have millions of active players.

Another thing that has positively impacted Fortnite is all the collaborations. While some players are not big fans of crossovers, the truth is that this move has positively impacted Fortnite’s active player stats. Additionally, these collabs have helped with Battle Pass and in-game purchases.
