Beidou is a 4-star Electro Claymore character who specialises as an Electro Main or Sub DPS, and is available on the Character Event Wish, Epitome Invocation and Wanderlust Invocation Standard Banners. Keep reading to find out what materials are needed to Ascend Beidou, her best builds and an overview of how to use her effectively.

Beidou Ascension Stat

All characters in Genshin Impact have a particular stat that levels up alongside their base stats. For Beidou, this extra stat is Electro DMG Bonus. This will help to increase the DMG of her Electro DMG, which is great as this is the majority of her DMG output.

Treasure Hoarder Insignia, Silver Raven Insignia and Golden Raven Insignia can be obtained by defeating Treasure Hoarders, which can be found all over Teyvat.

Beidou Talent Materials

In order to make Beidou stronger, you’ll need to upgrade her talents. The materials you will need are as follows:

  • Treasure Hoarder Insignia
  • Silver Raven Insignia

  • Philosophies of Gold

The Teachings, Guide and Philosophies of Ballad can be obtained by completing the Domain of Mastery: Circle of Embers every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. Meanwhile, the Spirit Locket of Boreas is a potential drop from the Weekly Stormterror Challenge.

Beidou Best Weapons

Beidou has lots of good weapon options, making her very accessible to build for all kinds of players:

WeaponRarity
Wolf’s Gravestone5-star
The Unforged5-star
Skyward Pride5-star
Serpent Spine4-star
Blackcliff Slasher4-star
Akuoumaru4-star
Prototype Archaic4-star
Luxurious Sea-Lord4-star
Genshin Impact Beidou Weapon

Beidou’s best in slot is Wolf’s Gravestone since it gives a massive amount of ATK% with its substat, on top of a passive which gives even more ATK. The Unforged can also work on her as it gives plenty of ATK, although not as much as Wolf’s Gravestone. If your Beidou needs more Energy Recharge, she can benefit from Skyward Pride thanks to its Energy Recharge substat.

Beidou has no shortage of 4-star weapons she can use, too. Serpent Spine and the Blackcliff Slasher will give her CRIT Rate and DMG respectively, which will give you more freedom with her Artifact substats. Akuoumaru can also work great on her, as it will give her a good amount of ATK% as well as boost her Elemental Burst DMG with its passive. F2P players have some very good weapon options; Prototype Archaic is craftable, and will give Beidou a tonne of ATK. If you were able to get it during an earlier event, Luxurious Sea-Lord can also work very nicely on Beidou since it gives plenty of ATK.

Beidou Best Artifacts

Beidou has a couple different Artifact sets that work very well for her. One set you could try is 2-Piece Thundering Fury and 2-Piece Gladiator’s Finale / Shimenawa’s Reminiscence, which will help to increase both her Electro DMG and overall ATK. Alternatively, you could also use 2-Piece Thundering Fury and 2-Piece Noblesse Oblige, which will focus on increasing her Burst’s DMG.

For low-level players, 2-Piece Berserker and 2-Piece Martial Artist or 4-Piece Martial Artist work well until you’re able to get higher level Artifacts.

Genshin Impact Beidou Artifacts

For your Artifact main stats, you will want to run:

SandsATK%
GobletElectro DMG Bonus
CircletCRIT DMG / Rate

In terms of Artifact substats, you’ll want to focus on ATK%, Energy Recharge, both CRIT DMG and CRIT Rate and a little Elemental Mastery.

How to use Beidou

Her Elemental Skill, Tidecaller, has different effects depending on whether you tap or hold the Skill. On tap, Beidou swings her blade forward to deal Electro DMG. On hold, she lifts her weapon up as a shield. Max DMG absorbed scales off Beidou’s Max HP. She then attacks using the energy stored within the greatsword upon release or once this ability’s duration expires, dealing Electro DMG.

Her Elemental Burst, Stormbreaker, creates a Thunderbeast’s Target around herself, dealing Electro DMG to nearby enemies. When Normal and Charged Attacks hit, they create a lightning discharge that can jump between enemies, dealing Electro DMG. This also increases the active character’s resistance to interruption, and decreases DMG taken.

Best Team Comps

Beidou is an excellent DPS, capable of dealing high numbers both on and off-field. When using her Skill, you’ll want to time it with the exact moment she gets hit in order to deal the most DMG possible. On top of that, her Skill acts as a good way of generating Energy for her Burst. Her Burst is comparable to someone like Xingqiu’s, which persists even when the caster is off-field, making her perfect at activating Elemental Reactions. For this reason, she pairs well with Hydro characters in Taser (Electro-Charged) team comps; for example, she works very well with Tartaglia, Kokomi, and Xingqiu. Equally, she can help proc Superconduct on Physical teams, paired with a Main DPS such as Eula, Kaeya or Rosaria. Generally, though, no matter what team you put her on you’ll want to pair her with an Electro Battery to help her keep her Burst charged up, ready to use on cooldown; Fischl or the Raiden Shogun work well in this role.

That being said, Raiden works better as a battery for Beidou than Beidou does as a Sub-DPS for Raiden. This is because Beidou’s Burst won’t proc during Raiden’s Burst, meaning they don’t really synergise. However, if Raiden is your Sub-DPS / Battery this shouldn’t be too much of an issue, since you’ll mainly be using Raiden to generate Energy.

One example of a team you could use is Beidou, Fischl, Tartaglia and Bennett. On this comp Tartaglia is your Main DPS, with Beidou acting as a Sub-DPS, Fischl as a Sub-DPS / Battery, and Bennett as a Healer / Support. Beidou can benefit from Bennett in this comp as her Burst snapshots, meaning that if you activate her Burst whilst standing in Bennett’s Burst’s field, you can run out of it / switch character and the buff will still be applied to her Burst DMG. With this comp you’ll mainly be dealing Super-Charged DMG, and switching in Bennett when you can to buff Tartaglia and Beidou. Alternatively, you could replace Tartaglia with Kokomi, and an Anemo unit with Bennett; for example, you could use Kazuha, Sucrose or Venti.
