How to change appearance in Final Fantasy XIV

There are plenty of ways players can change the appearance of their character in Final Fantasy. However, with so many things to explore, such as the Grand Company, major cities, and learning new jobs like the Sage and Reaper, it won’t be a surprise that you are a little overwhelmed. So to make things easier, we have a guide on how to change your appearance in Final Fantasy XIV.

How do you change your appearance in Final Fantasy XIV?

There are two ways you can change your appearance in Final Fantasy XIV. The first way is a quest called Beauty Is Only Scalp Deep, and the second is a Fantasia item. However, before the quest is triggered, you must first be Lv 15. The NPC giving you this quest is S’dhodjbi; you can find her in Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks.

Beauty Is Only Scalp Deep quest.

1. You must find the Disgruntled Madam, a Lalafell in Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks.
2. You must express Doubt to the Flustered Man. 
3. Use /doubt in your chat channel to do so. 
4. You must speak to H’naanza at the Armorer’s and Blacksmiths’ Guild in Limsa Lominsa. 
5. You must interact with Beatin at the Carpenters’ Guild in Gridania.
6. Find and speak to Severian at the Alchmiest’s Guild in Ul’dah.
7.  Deliver the items to the Flustered Man. 
8. You will complete the Beauty is Only Scalp Deep quest and unlock Aesthetician. 

Now that you have completed the quest, you can summon the Aesthetician using the Crystal Bell in any Inn room. Each time you change your appearance, it will cost 2,000 Gil or 1x Jandelaine’s Token.

You cannot communicate with other players or engage in activities while customizing your character.

How to use a Fantasia potion in Final Fantasy XIV

Next is the Fantasia item. You must be Lv 50 to complete The Ulitmate Weapon Quest to get this potion item. This quest is given to you by the NPC Raubahn. Once you obtain this item, you can change any aspect of your character. Unfortunately, this will not include name changes, starting city, and server.

To use this item:

1. Go to any inn room and remove all your gear from your character. 
2. Log out. 
3. The next log-in, you will be given the option to re-customize your character.

What customization options are there?

Now, while you can change the look of your character, you must first either purchase the item or unlock it in a quest. Below are the following services available to change your character’s appearance using the Aesthetician.

• Hairstyle
• Hair Color
• Eyebrows
• Lip Color
• Facial Features
• Tattoos
• Tattoo Color
• Face Paint 
• Face Paint Color

On the character selection screen, you can see what the item looks like, and when you click on it, it will show you how to obtain it from Vendors. Aside from changing your character’s appearance, you can also learn how to Cast Glamour from Swyrgeim in Vesper Bay, Western Thanalan.
