There are times in Diablo 4 when you just can’t avoid taking damage.  That’s where the healing potions come in. Those vials of life are vital to making it through some of the tougher content in Diablo 4. Let’s go over how you can get more healing potion charges and upgrade your healing potions to be stronger in Diablo 4.

Diablo 4 – How to Get More Healing Potions

You will have to get more healing potions to increase Renown in Diablo 4. You earn renown by filling out the map and fully exploring areas. This does seem to include the prologue area, which can make getting through the prologue take a bit longer.

Once you reach a specific threshold of Renown, you will automatically get be rewarded with an extra health potion charge. These extra charges increase your number of potions and are permanent upgrades, but are not shared between characters much like any other loot you happen to pick up.

How To Upgrade Healing Potions in Diablo 4

In order to upgrade your health potions, you will need to speak with an alchemist which can be found in Kyovashad. You can find the alchemist on the map by looking for the mortar and pestle icon. You can only upgrade your healing potion once every 10 levels.

You will have a quest on your map for the first upgrade that upgrades the starter weak healing potion to a tiny healing potion. Each of these potion upgrades will increase the potency of healing potions, allowing you to recover more hit points for each charge.

To get further upgrades, you will need to gather resources such as:

  • Howler moss
  • Paletongue
  • Gallowvine
  • Biteberry
  • Reddamine
  • Lifesbane
  • Grave dust
  • Blightshade

While you won’t need every single one of these materials for the starter upgrades, you will need them to upgrade to the superior healing potion once the full game is out

Since the max level is only 20 for the upcoming open beta server slam, you won’t be able to go past the minor healing potion that you get at level 20. Most of the material costs for the minor healing potion upgrade can be found around the Fractured Peaks. You will mostly be looking out for Gallowvine and Biteberry.
