It makes sense that Blizzard’s bloodiest franchise has fans hooked with its newest title, Diablo IV. With its new classes, gripping new story, and incredible gameplay, there’s plenty to play and fans want to be able to take the game on the go. Yes, you are able to play Diablo IV on Steam Deck in a different way than you’re used to, and we’re here to show you how.

Diablo 4 – How to play Diablo 4 on Steam Deck

Diablo IV is playable on Steam Deck. First things first, you will need to own Diablo IV on PC before loading it onto your Steam Deck, so sorry to all the Xbox and PlayStation players out there. Assuming you have this step done, next, you’ll want to turn on your Steam Deck and follow these steps:

  • Put Steam Deck in Desktop Mode by hitting the Steam button, Power, then Desktop Mode
  • Bring up the Discover tab
  • Search for the Lutris app
  • Install the tool

You can skip the installation if you already have Lutris on your Steam Deck.

  • Open Lutris using its icon
  • Press the plus button
  • Search Battle.net
  • Install it

After that, simply log in to your Battle.net account and you’re able to play Diablo IV on your Steam Deck without any trouble through the Lutris folder. Note that is going to take up 90 GB of storage on your Steam Deck, so make sure you have enough room for the download. This method will work regardless of edition you have, so have no fear if you didn’t get the Ultimate Edition.

While it takes a few steps to get there, this should also give you access to other Battle.net games that aren’t available on Steam, so this method will work with other games as well, not just Diablo IV.

It’s unknown if Diablo IV will ever come to Valve’s Steam platform for fans to play without all the extra installations and hassle after launch, but it’s unlikely considering Battle.net is the landing point for all of Blizzard’s games. It’s likely to remain a non-steam game, keeping to the media it’s already on, so sorry to Switch fans, as well.
