The open world of Sanctuary is massive in Blizzard Entertainment’s newest release in the Diablo series, Diablo IV, so getting around without walking everywhere you go is crucial. There are mounts, of course, so you can always jump on one of those, but to get there fast, you’re going to want to use waypoints, the fast travel feature. Need to know how to use them? We’ll tell you how.

Diablo 4 – How to use waypoints

The first step is you’ll need to activate a waypoint. Waypoints are found in every major city or town, as a glyph in the center of the region. Once you find it, you can activate the waypoint by interacting with it with the prompt that comes up on the screen. The first waypoint you’ll find is in Kyovashad in Fractured Peaks, so you can know what they look like.

Ok, so you’ve activated your point and need to head back to that waypoint location, quickly. Here are the steps you will take to fast travel:

  • Open the Map using the Tab key on PC, the Share button on PlayStation, or the View button on Xbox
  • Find your waypoint on the map
  • Hover the cursor over the waypoint
  • Click or press on it to travel
  • Accept the fast travel

Bam, you’ll be transported to that destination in an instant. This is without a doubt the quickest way to travel in the game besides town portals, and it makes the enormous map of Sanctuary a bit less daunting. There are multiple waypoints in each region zone, including Fractured Peaks, Dry Steppes, Kehjistan, Scosglen, and Hawezar.

There are waypoints all across the map, so whenever you come across one, activate it, even if you don’t think you have any plans to return to the town it’s in. There’s no penalty for using waypoints, except for missing out on any EXP or rewards you would collect if you travel there on foot, or any dungeons, strongholds or world bosses you could have encountered, so use them as much as you want.

The more waypoints you unlock, the easier it will be to adventure across the grim world of Sanctuary for the main quest in pursuit of the daughter of Mephisto, Lilith, in her return to the world she created. You can travel to the nearest town, or
