It’s time to take a look whether The Last of Us Part 1 is going to be Steam Deck compatible. The PC version release is here, but will you be able to try it out on your portable Steam Deck?

Well, the PC system requirements were released ahead of time, so that gives us a good measure to whether the game will be playable or not on Steam Deck. Likewise, the controller support (as you’ll find below) gives up hope that this title will play nicely on the Deck.

Although we’re yet to receive any official word of The Last of Us Part 1 being Steam Deck verified on the official website, all hope isn’t lost. Some users out there have spotted that Valve is using The Last of Us Part 1 as part of their promotional video which you’re greeted with when you open up the Steam Deck homepage. See below.

This is a great indication that the game may be receiving official verification in future for the Steam Deck. Furthermore, Naughty Dog co-president Neil Druckmann did reveal that The Last of Us will be available on Steam Deck.

Is The Last of Us Part 1 playable on Steam Deck?

Thanks to the fact that the Steam Deck is practically a portable PC with easy access to your Steam Library, you should be able to boot up the game on your Steam Deck – given you have the required space to download it. You may need some additional space through an accessory for this.

The system requirements for the game will definitely be pushing the Steam Deck to it’s limits, but that didn’t stop players from enjoying the likes of Hogwarts Legacy or Sons of the Forest.

So, given the fact that Valve are officially showing off The Last of Us on Steam Deck over on their website, we expect a decent amount of optimization available on PC.
