There are three characters that matter in nearly every Legend of Zelda game; Link, Ganondorf, and Zelda. Zelda’s name is literally in the title of the game, solidifying her as an important character. Despite this, there have been rumors floating around that she is dead in Tears of the Kingdom.

Nintendo isn’t one to break the mold when it comes to its franchises. That is until Breath of the Wild came along. While most of the franchise follows a similar path, Breath of the Wild went in a different direction, and Tears of the Kingdom is changing things further. So is Zelda dead in Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom?

Does Zelda die in Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom?

You may look at this post and think that there is no possible way that Zelda could die. After all, the game is named after her and she plays an important role alongside Link and Ganondorf. If a character were to die, it would most likely be one of the champions or a side character, right?

We have a compelling case as to why Zelda could bite the big one in Tears of the Kingdom. You may have seen the event play out and not realized it.

In the trailers, there is a specific point where the ground crumbles away and Zelda falls. Link dives after her and that is all we get. This fall could very well be what banishes Zelda to the spirit plane and destroys Link’s arm along with the Master Sword.

After this event, the rest is unknown, but Zelda does have a strange glow about her in the rest of the trailer moments. Perhaps she is leading Link from beyond the grave. There are plenty of changes being made to Tears of the Kingdom like the possible addition of companions and even new abilities like Recall which affect time.
