Halgaia is Lost Ark’s second T2 Guardian Raid and the second of raid level 3. This Lost Ark Halgaia guide will cover all of the mechanics, tips and tricks you need to know to take this flaming bird down.

Guardian Raids can be attempted alone or with up to three other players, the battle is scaled for the number of players in the party. Everyone in your party will need to be item level 840+ to enter. If you need more players, you can use the ‘find party’ or ‘matchmaking’ features to group up.

Lost Ark Helgaia Guardian Raid Mechanics and Tactics

Firstly, we’ve included a few general tips to help you take on Lost Ark’s Helgaia.

  • Evolve – Throughout the fight, Helgaia will try to evolve to her next phase. Helgaia raises her wings, and rocks will begin to float nearby in the air and a large AOE will rush towards her. You have two options when you see this begin to happen. One, hit her with as much stagger as you can to prevent the evolution. Two, get out of there! If Helgaia successfully evolves the large AOE of rushing air becomes a blast of damage. Each time you prevent Helgaia from evolving, the amount of stagger required to prevent it increases. We recommend trying to stop her evolution in the first phase at least three times and at least twice in the second phase. You can use whirlwind grenades for a boost here and having a Paladin or Gunlancer in the party always helps.
  • Burning – Most of Helgaias attacks add a stack of burning to the player. You will want to bring panaceas along for this fight to clear the stacks when they get too high. We recommend taking your panacea at five stacks.
  • Helgaia is weak to water damage. If you can use water themed skills or battle equipment, we recommend doing so.

Lost Ark Helgaia’s phase 1, 2 and 3 mechanics

During the first phase of the encounter, you will have a specific set of skills to play against. There’s nothing too incredible about these Helgaia mechanics, but it’s worth noting so they don’t catch you off guard.

Charge – Helgaia flaps her wings before raising them up, lowering her head and charging in a straight line. Like most Guardians, if Helgaia is glowing blue when she begins this attack, she can be stunned with a counter-attack ability.

Tail Whip – Helgaia looks towards her back whilst swinging her tail in the opposite direction. She then whips her tail back towards the side she looked towards. You can get underneath her by her back legs to dodge this one.

Wing Attack – Helgaia looks to her side, brings the wing she looked at across her body and then slashes in a large arc in the direction she looked. This can be tough to dodge if you are a slower class, try to get in close to her tail to avoid this one.

Beak Attack – Helgaia raises her wings and lowers her head before slamming her beak down twice in the same place, in the direction she is facing. Move to her sides or back when you see this coming.

Fireball – The animation for this is very similar to the previous attack, however, Helgaia will flap her wings slightly if she is about to shoot a fireball. She often shoots two fireballs in a row and unlike her beak attack, she will change direction for the second fireball.

Flip – Helgaia will flap her wings rapidly before slamming her head down and flipping you over her body. When you see her flap her wings you need to dodge to the side to avoid the attack.

Phase 2 – Including all previous abilities with some changes

Moving into the second phase, you’ll find that the Lost Ark Helgaia tactics retch up from the first phase slightly. It mean’s you’re going to need to pay attention to some extras the boss does as it may surprise you.

Fireball V2 – Helgaias fireball now splits into three when she uses this ability.

Slam – Helgaia quickly flies a short way up into the air before slamming down with an AOE attack in the direction she is facing. Try to move away from the way she is facing when you see her flying up.

Phase 3 – Including all previous abilities with some changes

In the third phase, more of Helgaia phase 1 mechanics tech up, along with an introduction to a new mechanic.

Charge V2 – Helgaia flies up a short way, much more slowly than for a slam so you can tell these attacks apart. Then charges in a straight line through the air. She leaves a burning trail behind that you will want to avoid after this attack.

Fire Rain – Helgaia flies up much further for this attack. Fire wisps will then begin to rain from the sky damaging and knocking up the player on contact. Try to stay mobile and avoid getting hit, if you do get hit, more of these attacks will likely target you.
