Having a good interior defensive lineman is paramount to defensive success in Madden 24. Without it, pass rushing becomes more difficult and it’s nearly impossible to stop the run. The good ones, unfortunately, are pretty rare in the game. Here are the top 10 at those positions.

Who are the best defensive linemen in Madden 24?

Please note that these player ratings do not include defensive ends who are edge rushers. Some defensive ends are on the interior of a 3-4 base alignment, and those qualify as defensive linemen, not edges. Positions can include left defensive end (LE), right defensive end (RE), and defensive tackle (DT). All ratings below were revealed by EA Sports’ official Madden NFL 24 rating page.

  1. Christian Wilkins – 86 OVR
  2. DJ Reader – 87 OVR
  3. Vita Vea – 88 OVR
  4. Jeffery Simmons – 89 OVR
  5. Jonathan Allen – 92 OVR
  6. Quinnen Williams – 93 OVR
  7. Cameron Heyward – 93 OVR
  8. Dexter Lawrence II – 94 OVR
  9. Chris Jones – 96 OVR
  10. Aaron Donald – 99 OVR

10) Christian Wilkins – 86 OVR

Christian Wilkins hasn’t ascended to be that elite defensive lineman for the Miami Dolphins that draft pundits thought he could be, but he’s probably on his way. Regardless, an 86 overall rating in Madden 24 is very strong and he’ll wreak havoc for Xbox, PC, and PlayStation gamers alike.

9) DJ Reader – 87 OVR

DJ Reader anchors the Cincinnati Bengals’ defense, which features a lot of star players. Nevertheless, despite all the fame on one defense, it’s Reader that deserves a lot of credit. His Madden rating is well-earned.

8) Vita Vea – 88 OVR

Vita Vea is an excellent player for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The standout defensive tackle has been exceptional in the run game since being drafted. He’s one of the premier run-stoppers in Madden 24 and will be a great player to use.

7) Jeffery Simmons – 89 OVR

Jeffery Simmons is an elite run-stuffer. Any team attempting to run on the Tennessee Titans is usually met with an absolute wall in the middle. Most offenses try their best to scheme away from Simmons and send their running backs around the outside.

6) Jonathan Allen – 92 OVR

Jonathan Allen is one of the few bright spots on the Washington Commanders’ defense. Former Rookie of the Year Chase Young hasn’t developed, but Allen has. He’s turned into one of the best tackles in the league.

5) Quinnen Williams – 93 OVR

Quinnen Williams has become an absolute superstar with the New York Jets. They have a top-notch defense and it begins in the trenches with Williams stopping rushing attempts with ease. He is a very difficult player to block.

4) Cameron Heyward – 93 OVR

Cameron Heyward has been an anchor on the Pittsburgh Steelers’ defensive line for years. Without his ability to draw in blocks and disrupt the middle of the line, TJ Watt and others on the edge would struggle to make an impact.

3) Dexter Lawrence II – 94 OVR

Dexter Lawrence is proving that he was worth the hype. Once touted as an elite defensive line prospect, it took a bit of time before the New York Giants star proved that prediction right. Here he is, with a 94 overall in Madden that’s only going to get better.

2) Chris Jones – 96 OVR

Chris Jones has become one of the most disruptive defensive tackles in the entire game. Madden doesn’t have a lot of elite pass rushers at the DT position, but Jones is one. The Kansas City Chiefs star is holding out for a better contract now, and the Chiefs will lose a great-rated player if they don’t re-sign.

1) Aaron Donald – 99 OVR

Aaron Donald is perhaps the most dominant defender in NFL history, so of course his Madden rating pretty much stays at 99 overall. It occasionally dips, but that’s usually due to being triple-teamed which renders the Los Angeles Rams tackle unable to produce. Nevertheless, he is a 99 now and makes a lot of Pro Bowls. He will probably stay that way until he retires.
