Madden 24 is coming out in less than a month and fans of the football franchise are growing more and more excited. Pre-orders are available now to ensure everyone gets a copy, but some prospective gamers are still deciding whether or not they want to get the latest version.

EA is often accused of just updating rosters and graphics and putting a $70 price tag on the same game. The game modes are often what determine whether or not it’s worth the new game price. When it comes to Madden 24, which modes are present?

What game modes are in Madden 24?

There are five total game modes on Madden 24, per their official website. They are as follows:

Franchise mode

Franchise mode has become a staple of Madden NFL over the years. Whether players want to take control of an entire team or just a single player, this mode is very popular. With franchise mode, gamers have the ability to move, rename and completely run an NFL franchise. In Madden 24, it’s been given a gameplay update with relocation to new cities, new team names, and more.

Head-to-head

This is the most common game mode in any sports game. Every sports video game that features two teams against one another has a head-to-head mode of some sort. In Madden’s case, this is where players can play an exhibition against the CPU, their local friend, or someone online. This can be done cross-play if you have a PC, Xbox Series X|S, or PlayStation 5.

Madden Ultimate Team

EA Sports has had a lot of success with the team-building modes across their games, so naturally, Madden Ultimate Team is returning. In this, players earn money, buy packs, collect cards, and more to build a dynamic NFL team. Ever wondered what it would be like to have quarterback Josh Allen, the cover athlete, of the Buffalo Bills throwing to Justin Jefferson? MUT allows for that to happen as long as you get the right cards.

Superstar mode

Superstar mode is returning but with two new features and ways to play. The League and Showdown are the new games within Superstar.

Superstar The League

The League is an offline version where each gamer can create and improve their own character, building their own path in the NFL. This is the new and redefined way of using a create-a-player, usually modeled after oneself, and turning them into a first-ballot Hall of Famer.

Superstar Showdown

Showdown, on the other hand, is an online mode. This allows players to use their avatars in 3v3 games with other players through the Internet. This, again, is subject to the cross-play rules, so Xbox One gamers will have to play with their own console. The same is true for PlayStation 4 players.

The latter two game modes are next-gen only. In their place on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 is Face of the Franchise, which is more or less like Franchise Mode with your created player, and The Yard.

The Yard is like street football with a much smaller field and is more arcade-like in nature. Both editions of the game will have new mini-games as well as the ability to practice.
