The release of a new season in Call of Duty Modern Warfare II and Warzone means there are plenty of new activities to complete. One of these is the Faction Showdown Event, set to begin on August 4.

The Faction Showdown Event allows players to pick a side and use the new weapons and new operators to complete objectives. But how do you finish the event to earn the rewards?

How do you complete the Faction Showdown Event in MW2 and Warzone? That’s what we’re here to show you. Here’s how to complete the event.

How to finish the Faction Showdown Event in MW2 and Warzone

The requirements to complete the limited-time Faction Showdown Event are simple; all you need to do is get 50 Operator kills. That’s it. However, you will need to choose a faction to join. There are two factions to choose from:

  • Task 141
  • Shadow Company

You can choose which task force you’d like to join by going into the Events tab and selecting your choice. Which task force you choose also determines what other specific challenges are available for you to complete in all modes of the game.

Task 141 prefers to keep it close with Melee weapons and Finishing Moves, or go long with Battle Rifle longshots. The objectives for this faction will be themed around the Melee and Battle Rifles weapons.

Meanwhile, Shadow Company prefers stealth over anything, killing from behind with SMGs and making use of their entire loadouts, like Lethal Equipment and Launchers. All specific challenges in this faction will be focused on these weapons.

Completing challenges for your chosen faction will reward you with various goodies like tier skips and vehicle skins. You’ll earn a special weapon blueprint for completing all challenges in a faction. Completing the main challenge will reward you with an Emblem and a Calling Card.

Can you switch factions during the Faction Showdown Event in MW2?

Yes, you can switch factions to your heart’s content. This way you can complete both faction’s challenges and earn more rewards.

Up until August 16, all community Operator kills will be tracked up to the 50 required, and the faction with the most kills wins. If you’ve completed the main challenge and the five challenges for your chosen faction, you’ll earn a special free Operator skin for either Soap or Horangi, depending on which faction wins, and a one-hour double Battle Pass XP token. This is a limited-time event, so if you don’t participate in the Faction Showdown Event during its runtime, you will not be able to play it.

The Faction Showdown Event is not limited to one game mode, so you can play Battle Royale, Gunfight, Elimination, Capture the Flag, or the new game modes Big Capture the Flag and Havoc to complete the mission.

There will be plenty of other rewards and events taking place during Season 5 of MW2 and Warzone, with new special guest Operators like Snoop Dogg, Nicki Minaj, and 21 Savage for the 50 Years of Hip Hop Celebration, new maps like Lounge, Punta Mar, and Canal, new weapons like the FR Avancer Assault Rifle and Carrack .300 Sniper Rifle.

There are new Gunfight Variants, new DMZ missions, new multiplayer maps, and core maps, Operators like Graves, Oz, Mila, and Velikan added from the ranks of Shadow Company, new vehicles like the MRAP and Dirt Bike, and plenty of other events including the reveal event for Call of Duty 2023. All of this content comes with the launch of MW2 and Warzone Season 5, where you’ll take down the Konni forces with your squad and enjoy all the new features in one of the biggest updates for MW2 and Warzone yet.
