With the latest title of the Call of Duty series on its way, Modern Warfare III is set to take over Modern Warfare II. The new game from Activision will feature tons of new content for fans.

While there’s plenty to look forward to in MWIII, like the return of Zombies and new maps being added, saying goodbye to MWII won’t be easy. But fans want to know if they have to say goodbye to everything, such as the skins they earned during their gameplay.

Will your skins from MW2 and Warzone transfer over to MW3? We’re here to let you know.

Can you transfer MW2 skins to MW3?

Yes, all skins your earned or bought playing MWII will transfer over to MWIII. This was confirmed in a blog post from Activision about the Carry Forward feature, which stated that items earned in MW2 will carry forward to MWIII.

This includes cosmetics for both operators and weapons either from purchases or earned in gameplay. After a poll on Twitter asked MWII players if content should be carried over, the results were an overwhelming yes, fans will get what they want.

What transfers over from MW2 to MW3?

The following items transfer forward from MWII to MWIII:

  • Operators & Operator Skins
  • Weapons & Weapon Camos
  • Weapon Blueprints
  • Weapon Attachments
  • Emblems
  • Stickers
  • Weapon Charms
  • Loading Screens
  • Weapon Stickers
  • Vehicle Skins
  • Calling Cards
  • Wartracks

Basically, all cosmetic content will be transferred to MWIII. Unlocked operators will stay unlocked, and weapon progression will be kept. The MWII base operators will also be available in MWIII, as well as the full complement of MWII weapons transferring over to the new game.

Store bundles will also be noted if they are transferrable, starting August 16 in the CoD store. This example shows how to tell if the bundle will carry forward.

The rewards and MWII content will all move forward from the current iteration of Call of Duty and be useable, along with the impressive amount of content coming with the new gameplay offerings of MWIII that are available as soon as the game releases.

However, there are some caveats. If something does not exist in MWIII that was in MWII, the removing of those items means it will not transfer over. For example, if the Tactical Amphibious Vehicle is not in MWIII, any vehicle skins you’ve unlocked for it will not transfer to the new title. Some tactical and lethal equipment also will not carry over, but we’ll have to wait to see what will transfer over.

It’s important to know that there is no carry back feature, just carry forward, so if you don’t own MWII and earn cosmetic equipment, then later purchase MWII, the content will not be transferred to the previous title.

MWII cosmetics are just a small amount of content that will be available in MWIII, along with a host of game modes, MWIII-only equipment, MWIII-specific weapons, and plenty more. This carry forward content is just a specific piece of the delicious pie that is MWIII.
