Call of Duty MW3 will not be a next gen exclusive. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 will be available on various platforms, including last gen consoles. Modern Warfare 3 will be available on the following platforms and consoles PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Battle.Net, and Steam, as stated on the official Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III website.
During the Shadow Siege Reveal event, more information regarding the launch of MW3 had also been released. This is further emphasized on the PlayStation and Xbox website stating MW3 will launch with various editions, including a Cross-Gen Bundle. This means the version of the game you purchase will be available across consoles of multiple generations.
This comes much to the delight of CoD players; many may not own the latest consoles or equipment to enjoy the newest installment of the Call of Duty games.
