NBA 2K24 has offered players something that other sports video games have not, and that was the ability to enter the past. 2K, for a few years now, has given players the chance to revisit older eras of the NBA. In Madden, you can only play the current league and progress into the future. That’s true in MLB The Show and EA Sports FC as well. 2K has been a rarity in that sense, but is that the case again in NBA 2K24?

Can I play different eras in NBA 2K24?
Yes, NBA 2K24 is bringing back the different eras of the NBA for you to enjoy. They’re introducing a brand new one: the LeBron era. This is the latest era to be playable in NBA 2K24. It’s not a special Eras Mode, though. It is part of MyNBA mode.
In this mode, there are five different eras you can visit:
- Magic vs. Bird era
- LeBron era
- Kobe era
- Jordan era
- Modern era
The focus here, of course, is on the LeBron era. In it, you get to travel back to the Miami Heat era of his career. When he joined Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh to form what was eventually called the Heatles, LeBron James completely shook up the NBA.
Now, you have the opportunity to revisit this. The 2010s were dominated by this team, and you can do one of two things. You can either play as the Heat and dominate basketball, proving the team’s initial prediction of more than five championships true. The alternative is to try and gameplay with a different NBA team and dethrone them.
Fans of the NBA remember what it was like for LeBron to take his talents to South Beach, and now they can play through that era again. That was present in NBA 2K10 through 2K14, so you can head back over a decade.
That is the newest era in MyNBA, which also has MyNBA Lite, but it’s not the only one. Revisit the early Kobe Bryant era in the 90s, play as or against the Michael Jordan Chicago Bulls in the 80s, play during the Magic Johnson and Larry Bird years, or just play with today’s NBA stars. All eras, even the early 2000s, are available with MyNBA online.
You can control the Collective Bargaining Agreement, the new CBA restrictions, and effectively function as the commissioner for this era, and control how things turned out. It’s your chance to explore some revisionist history.
