NBA 2K24 offers a ton of different ways to play. You can join different eras of the NBA and control older teams. You can create a player and start a journey to becoming the greatest basketball player of all time. You can also collect cards and create a dominant squad of all NBA players. When it comes to international play, 2K has often ignored that sector of the sport. Is that true in NBA 2K24? Can you play the FIBA World Cup?
Can I play in the World Cup in NBA 2K24?
No, the FIBA World Cup is not present in NBA 2K24. Brazil, Europe, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, Oceania, Asia, the Americas, and more countries are not able to suit up and play until a gold medal is awarded.
There is no way to start a tournament with national teams. Team USA, despite being perhaps the biggest basketball team in the world, is not present. Even if you go back to the Dream Team era with Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, John Stockton, Patrick Ewing, and others, the national team is not there.
MyNBA allows you to explore these eras, but only in an NBA setting. International play is not part of the game. On that note, even Quick Play does not have these international teams. You can play as any modern team or any historic team that the game has, as well as any WNBA team. You can sift through team options all day, but the teams from Slovenia, South Sudan, France, Turkey, and other places will not be there.
Even though players like Victor Wembanyama, Nikola Jokic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and more play for unique nations with different players, their national teams aren’t in the game. The FIBA Basketball World Cup isn’t, either.
In MyCAREER, players have the ability to suit up for an NBA team but not their country. This is not uncommon, as really only EA Sports FC 24 allows players to play for their country. Still, you can play for the Los Angeles Lakers but not Team USA.
