NBA 2K24 is not out and there’s very little information surrounding the game ahead of its September release. That includes player ratings. With a month and a half remaining between now and the release date, nobody knows what the top players are, though they can reasonably be assumed.

For rookies, there’s far less information to go on. One could look at Nikola Jokic’s current NBA 2K23 rating and speculate that his opening 2K24 rating will be the same. There is no 2K24 rating for Scoot Henderson, though. Here is our best shot at predicting which rookies will top the rating charts.

What are the NBA 2K24 rookie ratings?

These are what we expect the top five players from the 2023 NBA Draft to be in NBA 2K24. Note that Chet Holmgren, while technically a rookie, is not included because he had a rating in NBA 2K23.

What are the NBA 2K24 rookie ratings?

These are what we expect the top five rookies to be in NBA 2K24. Note that Chet Holmgren for the Oklahoma City Thunder, while technically a rookie, is not included because he had a rating in NBA 2K23. Honorable mentions: Jarace Walker, Taylor Hendricks, Bilal Coubilaly, Jordan Hawkins and Anthony Black, who will likely just miss out.

5) Ausar Thompson- 73 OVR

The second-drafted Thompson twin, Ausar Thompson will likely slide into a starring role for the rebuilding Detroit Pistons. They have a lot of young talent, but he should be a featured player. His ability to score and gather rebounds (he sports a 7’0″ wingspan) will make him a useful player in 2K24.

4) Brandon Miller- 74 OVR

Say what you will about the Charlotte Hornets’ decision to choose Brandon Miller over Scoot Henderson, and pundits, analysts, and fans certainly have, but Miller was supposed to be a top-three pick regardless. There was always a chance he’d slide, but he was considered one of the best five prospects in the draft by a wide margin. He didn’t look great in most of his Summer League action, but he’ll be a fine player who can make shots and likely what the Hornets need.

3) Amen Thompson- 75 OVR

Amen Thompson, the first Thompson to go off the board, is an excellent player. Scouts never questioned this, but he proved a lot of them right when he took the Summer League by storm. Before his injury, he looked like the best rookie not named Victor Wembanyama, and the 2K rating adjusters probably saw and agreed with that. He’s got a strong chance

2) Scoot Henderson- 77 OVR

Scoot Henderson, most scouts agreed, would have been the top selection in the draft if not for the generational Wembanyama. In Summer League, he might have proven that with his athleticism and ball handling. Though he’s probably not terribly upset that Charlotte passed on him, he is likely on a mission to prove that he’s the best player in the draft. He was excellent in the G League and in Summer League, so the NBA 2K24 rating team has no choice but to crown him with the silver medal. He’s hungry to be the top rookie, but that is a very tall bar to clear.

1) Victor Wembanyama – 80 OVR

The superstar from France, Victor Wembanyama had one excellent Summer League game and one bad one. That’s not enough to drastically change the opinion surrounding him, so it doesn’t affect his probable ratings. He’s a generational talent, someone scouts believe could be an MVP in a few years. He has to start somewhere for the San Antonio Spurs, though, and a rookie with no NBA experience can’t be that high to start out. Expect this 80 overall to get higher rather quickly once the game comes out. Eventually, an 80 starting rating will probably feel disrespectful and inaccurate to how good “Wemby” will be.

Please remember that these ratings are only speculative. 2K Sports has not announced the ratings, so these are not to be considered as fact.
