While DlC for the Resident Evil Franchise is not something new, game-changing DLC is quite uncharted territory for them. The Resident Evil 4 Remake was released with the normal DLC of player skins and additional weapons, but it also contained something else; something worth its weight in gold. A Treasure Map expansion was listed among the costumes and weapons for roughly the price of a costume set. This map adds additional treasures to the game that you wouldn’t normally be able to find. Let’s go over what this treasure map expansion is and if it is worth picking up for the Resident Evil 4 Remake.

Treasure Map Expansion For The Resident Evil 4 Remake

Resident Evil 4 Remake Savage Mutt Location

Treasures in the Resident Evil 4 Remake are the main way to make money in the game. However, they are supposed to be a rare resource that is hard to find without the purchase of a map from the merchant. Thus creating this idea of spending a little to make a lot back. The Treasure Map expansion does something quite different from the normal treasure maps in the game. Once the map is downloaded and applied to the game, you will see the Expanded Map symbol appear in the lower right corner of the map.

All treasures on the map marked by the diamond with the plus sign count as DLC treasures that you wouldn’t be able to find normally. While not all of the treasures shown by this map are exclusive to the DLC it seems to defeat the purpose of buying the treasure maps that the merchant will sell you throughout the game. Even if you don’t want to use this DLC for the challenge of the game, it will be given to you if you bought the Extra DLC pack or the deluxe edition. There does not seem to be a way to turn off the extra treasures, so you will just have to ignore them if you don’t want them.

The bonus of having this map is that it will help you get access to some of the game’s many weapons early. This is because you will have the funds to be able to purchase more items from the merchant during each chapter.
