It’s not taken long for such things to appear, but if you’re on the lookout for a handy shortcut when getting items, then this Sons of the Forest item duplication glitch is perfect for you. As you start your new adventure and surviving cannibals, you might be struggling to find everything you need – but this neat little trick can make your life a hell of a lot easier, and ensure you get some tasty extra items in the process.

So far there are a couple of ways to spawn more items. One of which is with the containers, which is really handy for the start crash site. And the other is with duplicating logs, as found by Reddit user u/Daveslayer1.

How to duplicate container items in Sons of the Forest

To utilize this glitch or feature, you’ll want to make a shelter so you can save the game. This is because you’ll be wanting to jump out and in multiple times.

For a basic shelter:

• Find a tarp; there should be one around the crash site. Then set it down in your desired spot.
• Then send Kelvin off to find sticks with the notepad.
• Once he returns with some, aim at the corner of the placed tarp and you’ll be able to prop it up. One corner or two works, then you can sleep or save your game.

To duplicate the container items:

• You want to loot all of the container boxes.
• Then save your game at a shelter.
• Quit the game back to the main menu.
• Continue and load your saved file.
• Once you’ve loaded in, you will find the containers closed again and you can loot them again
• Meaning you can repeat this process multiple times to stock up on some basics

How to duplicate logs in Sons of the Forest

If you can’t be bothered to keep chopping down whole trees, there is a quick way to duplicate the logs you have.

• Place the log on the floor
• Equip a stick, look at one end of the log and prop it up with the stick
• Then knock down the log by walking into it
• This should spawn in a log in the original location

Is the Sons of the Forest log dupe glitch fixed?

As of Patch 01, the game’s first big patch, Endnight Games have seemingly fixed the Sons of the Forest log dupe glitch. The patch note reads:

• Fixed some cases of multiplayer client able to duplicate logs

There may still be some ways around this, or it may still be possible to duplicate container items. Either way, you can always expect glitches which can abuse the game’s resources like this to be fixed promptly. We suggest you try out the methods we’ve gone through above in our article – if nothing seems to work, this glitch is probably fixed for good.
